THE CURATED LANDSCAPE BEGINS HERE
This has been a long time coming.
For years, I’ve carried the idea of building a space like this—somewhere beyond the noise of social media, where photography enthusiasts could explore thoughtful stories, gain insights, and see work that inspires them to create. But life, as it often does, had other plans. It wasn’t until the Lahaina fire—a moment of profound loss and reflection—that this idea truly solidified. The fire cemented something I’d been feeling for a while: a need to expand what I do, to lean more deeply into the experiences of photography and the connections it can bring.
In today’s world, losing sight of what matters most is easy. Our attention is constantly pulled in a hundred different directions, often toward things that feel shallow or fleeting. But experiences—those moments that move us, teach us, and connect us—are what truly hold value in life. Photography, at its best, helps us reconnect with this. It invites us to slow down, to see with clarity, and to experience the world more fully. These are the principles that guide me, and they’ve shaped everything about what I hope this space will become.
This isn’t about leaving one path behind but about building on what’s already here. Over the years, I’ve worked with hundreds of photographers, guiding them through the art of seeing and the joy of creating something personal and meaningful. Those connections have been among the most rewarding parts of my career, and now I want to take that further. I imagine The Curated Landscape as a kind of gathering place—intimate and intentional—offering something different from the constant churn of the “Big Clubs” like Instagram or YouTube. Meeting at a friend’s house versus a bustling nightclub: that’s the difference I hope to create here.
From the beginning, I envisioned this site as a place to celebrate the work of inspiring photographers—those whose stories deserve to be told. Photography has a unique power to connect us, reveal fresh perspectives, and deepen our understanding of the world and ourselves. Through The Curated Landscape, I aim to create a thoughtful space to explore soulful photography that inspires and challenges us to approach our craft with purpose and intention.
For now, it begins with this: a new image captured during my Oregon Coast workshop in 2024, shared here for the first time. There’s a simplicity, calmness, and spaciousness to this photograph that speaks to what I value most in photography. It feels symbolic—a reminder that even when we stand apart, there’s a shared connection between us, brought together by the experiences we hold close and the beauty we strive to create.
